Michelle Krukowski
Hello! My name is Michelle & I’m the Youth Ministry Coordinator here at St. Joseph. I do this full time, although I also teach 2nd grade Religious Education (RE), substitute teach in the parish school, and help out in the RE office. Besides ministering in the parish, I also am a full-time student.
I am currently finishing up my Elementary Education degree through St. Mary-of-the-Woods college near Terre Haute, IN. If you’re thinking that’s a long commute, I should probably explain that I was accepted into their Women’s External Degree program (WED) which allows me to work and live up here while attending school there. I usually go down about once a semester but sometimes more often for Saturday classes.
I love working with second graders because you can tell them that a dragon lives in the pencil sharpener and they’ll believe you. I love working with teens because they won’t (believe you). Very often, teens like to work hands-on & so do I. They need to try things for themselves. Also, teens tend to get a bad rap sometimes, and that’s always bothered me. They have so much to offer & they just need someone to facilitate that.
I’m available to any of the teens by my cell phone any time of day or night. (Yes, even 3am! You may have to call me twice though… once to wake me up and the second time to give me time to answer.)
